Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s speech at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference went off the rails on Friday when he shouted about nighttime comedians, wearing a mask and President Joe Biden.
“Orlando is incredible. It is not as good as Cancún, but it is good,” Cruz began, referring to the scandal he caused when he left Texas devastated by the storm to Cancún with his family last week. The Republican senator returned to Houston a day later, after receiving harsh criticism for leaving the state he represented for a vacation in the middle of a devastating winter storm.

“There are many voices in Washington who just want to erase the past four years, they want to go back to the previous world, where we had the government of lobbyists, lobbyists and lobbyists,” Cruz said later in the speech.
“Where the convincing message from Republicans was, ‘Republicans: we waste less,'” he said. “And they look at Donald J. Trump and they look at the millions and millions of inspired people who went to battle fighting alongside President Trump, and they are terrified and want him to go.”
“Let me tell you something now: Donald J. Trump is not going anywhere,” added Cruz of the former president, who once suggested that the senator’s father helped assassinate John F. Kennedy and hinted that his wife was ugly.
Some other highlights of Cruz’s speech:
- Wearing masks is a sign of virtue: “We are going to wear masks for the next 300 years,” said Cruz. “And by the way, not just a mask – two, three, four – you can’t have too many masks! How much virtue do you want to signal?”
- Fighting comedians and canceling the culture before telling people to “just have fun”: “You know, Jerry Seinfeld doesn’t count comedies anymore because he jokes that the funny thing is canceled,” said Cruz. “You know, ‘SNL’ is inaccessible. In the late night comedy, they get up and say, ‘We hate Donald Trump.’ Yes, no joke. We didn’t understand that the last 9,000 times you said that. “He added,” Have fun! “
- Democrats are trying to turn skateboarders into socialists: “And let me tell you, right now, in Los Angeles, there is a 19-year-old skateboarder who said it’s cool, chic and cool to be a left-wing socialist, man,” he said. Cross. “Who’s going to hear a message, ‘Wait a second, don’t these guys want me to speak? Think? Have fun? Do what I want to do?'”
- There were no “Black Lives Matter” demonstrations in Houston last year because of the Second Amendment: “In Houston, where I live, I must tell you, there were no protesters because let’s be very clear, if there were, they would find out what the state of Texas thinks about the 2nd Amendment’s right to keep and bear arms, “said Cruz.
Cruz completed his speech by warning that the United States is in a period of “dark days” and that “the country will return to sanity”. He added: “And mark my words, 2022 will be a fantastic election year, just like 2024, because we are together and we defend freedom, we defend the Constitution, we defend the Bill of Rights of every American”.
In closing, Cruz quoted William Wallace and shouted, “FREEDOM!”
