The ‘Mandalorian’ star was released by Lucasfilm and released by his talent agency on Wednesday.
Senator Ted Cruz has become one of the most prominent conservative voices, apparently furious at the resignation of Star Wars actor Gina Carano.

After the news was released Wednesday night, those in Carano’s corner started using the hashtag #CancelDisneyPlus on Twitter, with some shared screenshots showing that they ended their subscriptions. The subject was trending most of Thursday, the same day that Disney CEO Bob Chapek said in a conference call that the company’s streaming business reached 146 million paid subscribers, driven by Disney + and its nearly 95 million subscribers.
So far, the Texas senator has been the most prominent voice that criticizes Disney for his decision.
“Texan Gina Carano broke barriers in the Star Wars universe: not a princess, not a victim, not some emotionally tortured Jedi. She played a woman who detonated [and] whom the girls admired. She was instrumental in making Star Wars fun again. Of course Disney canceled it, ” Cruz tweeted.
Carano played the former rebel soldier Cara Dune in Mandalorian, a favorite of instant fans. Sources said The Hollywood Reporter that there was even a plan for Cara Dune to have an independent program, but that everything was erased after Carano’s online behavior.
As for Cruz, he made headlines recently due to his interactions with another Hollywood celebrity, Seth Rogen. The two men exchanged several inflamed tweets in which the comic actor demanded that Cruz take the blame for his involvement in the US Capitol insurrection on January 6, while the senator hurled insults at Rogen for his politics and performance.
