TCL is finally bringing its wearable screen prototype to the public

After showing its concept of Archery Project several times at several trade fairs in recent years, TCL is finally ready to bring its heads up display to the general public. Currently called TCL Wearable Display (the company hasn’t put much effort into it), the headset will be commercially available later this year, although the company cannot yet share prices or launch information further.

Having gone through some prototype stages, however, it looks like the wearable screen has finally reached its final shape. It is one of the smallest headsets I’ve ever seen, based on a video briefing with a TCL spokesperson and my experience with previous prototypes. It’s basically as the name suggests – just a wearable screen. It has no integrated component other than the two OLED Full HD screens for 140 degree viewing and a small processor to run the screens. There is no battery here, as the screen draws power from devices it is connected to via its USB-C port. That’s right, you’ll have to use a USB-C cable to connect your smartphones, tablets and computers to watch your content on your glasses.
