TCL announces line of XL Collection TVs, promises to take 8K into the mainstream this year

TCL makes some of the best TVs under $ 1,000 you can buy, and it was also early to adopt Mini LED technology, which TV makers like Samsung and LG are just starting to use in their 2021 lines. (The series TCL 8 and 6 already include Mini LED backlight.) For 2021, the company hopes to combine its aggressive pricing strategy and technological advancement in Mini LED for a new 6 series that Besides that goes all in at 8K resolution.

“Next year, all TCL Roku TV models from the 2021 6 series that are being launched will have 8K resolution,” TCL announced in a press release today, noting that last year’s models will also remain available. TCL’s AiPQ engine will be able to increase 4K content for clarity and clarity in the new 6 Series. The main problem with 8K is the lack of native content in this resolution – and this situation is not going to change anytime soon. But it seems that TCL intends to at least lower the prices of 8K TV. Now the question is how much more expensive it is The Series 6 will surpass its predecessor. We do not know yet.

TCL believes it is well ahead of competitors in LCD TV technology, and this is because of the company’s vertical integration and manufacturing experience. This year, it is launching a new panel with the brand “OD Zero” because the gap between the screen and the backlight system is zero millimeters. The result is what the TCL describes as an “ultra-thin screen with tens of thousands of Mini LEDs and thousands of contrast control zones”.

After LG announced that it would start making LCD TVs with Mini LEDs, TCL posted a thorny blog post that criticized OLED’s low overall market share. “There are TVs with a display technology that hasn’t changed noticeably since it was first used in TVs in early 2010 and still accounts for less than 3 percent of global TV sales,” wrote Aaron Dew of TCL before talking about the faster evolution of LCD sets and Mini LED benefits. “For those brands excited about launching the Mini LED in 2021, my only question is’ why did you take so long?”

TCL’s latest 6 series received strong reviews and was also a great choice for gamers – although it failed to achieve 4K resolution at 120Hz. Presumably, this is something that TCL will try to solve with the next model.

In 2021, TCL will also launch The XL Collection, a line of 85-inch monitors with different prices and resolutions. Here’s what the company says you can expect:

Three different models will be part of this year’s XL Collection and each 85 inch TV will have performance levels for all types of home theater. From a simply intelligent 85 inch Roku TCL Series 4 TV that offers the easiest way to enjoy 4K HDR streaming and an 85 inch Roku 4K HDR TCL TV with QLED image quality to the TCL 8K TV with 85 inch Mini LED end with With extensive QLED color technology, the XL collection fits any budget and exceeds the highest performance standards to deliver extraordinary home entertainment.

TCL’s XL collection is a line of 85-inch TVs that start at $ 1,599.

The Series 4 will be the first to leave the market in the XL collection: it will arrive this quarter for $ 1,599. Not bad for a huge 4K screen. The most expensive XL sets with the best QLED (quantum dot color) image quality will arrive at the end of the year. The price of these products will be announced – and the same goes for the 8K 6-Series.
