Fans began to speculate on what the surprise could entail, with some suggesting that Swift may announce the re-release of ‘Love Story’ to coincide with Valentine’s Day this Sunday (February 14).
In December, Swift shared an excerpt from his “love story” re-recorded on social media but has not yet released the revamped version in its entirety.
Swift planned to re-record his old material some time ago, since he lost the masters rights to his Big Machine Label Group catalog.
Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings bought Swift’s Big Machine recordings in June 2019, before selling them in November last year for more than $ 300 million (£ 217 million).
Since November 2020, Swift has been allowed to re-record songs featured on his self-titled album, ‘Fearless’, ‘Speak Now’, ‘Red’, ‘1989’ and ‘Reputation’.
A few days after her ban on re-recording the material was lifted, Swift confirmed that she had been in the studio.
“I recently started to re-record my old songs and it has already proved to be exciting and creatively rewarding. I have many surprises in store, ”she wrote in a long post on social networks at the time.
She has not yet officially relaunched any of her first materials.
