Taylor Swift cancels tour amid ‘unprecedented pandemic’

Taylor Swift canceled all pending tour dates due to the “unprecedented pandemic”. The star had a short list of shows planned for last summer in support of her 2019 album Lover; all were postponed in April last year due to the pandemic.

Swift made the announcement on social media on Friday night. “I love coming here to give you good news or to share a new project with you,” she wrote. “It’s not my favorite thing in the world to have to tell you news that makes me sad.”

Swift’s 2020 programs included its massive Lover Fests, which would take place in Los Angeles and Foxborough, MA. Other shows included international festival dates in Belgium, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Poland, France, Portugal and Brazil. Since new dates for the Lover Fest had never been set, ticket holders had the option since April to cancel their tickets and get a refund.

“This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape will look like in the near future,” she continued. “I am so disappointed that I was not able to see him in person as soon as I wanted to. I miss you so much and I can’t wait until we can all be safe together at shows again. “

Since launch Lover, Swift released two albums of new material, Folklore and Ever. In April, she will launch Fearless (Taylor version), a fully re-recorded version of his Grammy-winning second year LP. She will re-record all six albums she released with her old record label Big Machine, after a dispute over the ownership of her masters. She has not yet revealed when the other five albums will be available.
