Taylor Dayne defends herself amid adverse reactions for performing at Mar-a-Lago on New Year’s Eve

Singer Taylor Dayne spoke in her defense after receiving a negative reaction for performing at a New Year’s Eve event at President Trump’s resort in Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

Dayne was one of the few artists who took the stage at the annual celebration the president himself attended for the past three years. This time, he traveled back to Washington, DC the day before, but his sons Tiffany, Eric and Donald Trump Jr. were there, as was his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

Many criticized the singer for performing at the event amid the coronavirus pandemic. The New York Times reported that many of the guests present did not wear masks and that the party itself, which took place in a closed environment, violated some of Florida’s restrictions.

Dayne’s performance in the president’s party was seen as a tacit show of support.

In response to a critic, Dayne defended himself in a deleted tweet.

“I am saddened by all this. I have a 30-year career with many different friendships. And I try not to be political and critical and not to preach. I sing from my heart purely and from the Source. I wish that everyone also be who they need to be … find your way, “wrote the” Masked Singer “contestant (via Just Jared).

Dayne was not the only celebrity to face criticism from fans for performing at the Mar-a-Lago event. Rapper Vanilla Ice got the better of it after Donald Trump Jr. shared a video on Facebook showing the “Ice Ice Baby” singer performing at the New Year’s gala.

“Okay, this is amazing. Vanilla Ice is playing at the Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve party. As a child of the 90s, you can’t imagine how amazing this is,” Trump Jr. captioned the video. “Besides, I got the birthday message, so it’s incredible.”
