How the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research works on Pokémon Go

The Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research mission is part of the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event in Pokémon Go and is only available to players who purchase a ticket to this event.

To unlock this questline, you must play Pokémon Go on Saturday, February 20, from 9 am (local time) to 9 pm (local time). This mission has no deadline, so once unlocked, feel free to complete it in your own time.

The challenges you face will be slightly different, depending on whether you are playing the red or green version of the event. The version you choose will also determine the style of hat you will wear during this mission.

Completing the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research will not only result in an encounter with a brilliant Ditto, but will unlock the Mew Masterwork Research mission and your final reward from a brilliant Mew.

Once unlocked, Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research does not have a deadline, meaning it can be completed after the associated event has ended. However, we recommend completing the questline during the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, as it will be easier to complete a series of tasks.

In addition to this questline, purchasing a ticket to the event will also unlock 10 collections collections – Pallet Town, Pewter City, Cerulean City, Fuchsia City, Pokémon League, Raid, Research, Evolve, Trade and Incense. The last two are different depending on whether you are playing the red or green version of the event.

Research Collection Challenge List and Rewards

The Research Collection Challenge is part of the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto and is only available to players who have purchased a ticket to this in-game event.

Completing this Collection Challenge is fortunately very simple – but by completing the Special Kanto Survey, you will obtain all of these rewards as part of the various steps along the way. Several also appear in nature, if it helps you to track specific creatures.

Remember, while the Kanto Special Survey has no deadline after it starts, the Research Collection Challenge does – so if you want to finish it, it’s important to get through the mission within that time.

The list of Pokémon Research Collection Challenge is as follows:

• Cubone (meeting of step 3 of the special Kanto survey)
• Lickitung (encounter of step 4 of Kanto’s special research, rare wild spawning)
• Chansey (encounter from step 2 of Kanto’s special research, rare wild spawning)
• Tangela (Kanto special research stage 3 encounter, rare wild spawning)
• Lapras (Kanto Special Research Step 6 encounter, rare spawning wild, also appears in the survey Defeat all challengers)
• Same (step 7 meeting of the special Kanto survey)
• Aerodactyl (encounter of step 5 of the special Kanto survey, rare wild spawning)
• Snorlax (encounter from step 5 of Kanto’s special research, rare wild spawning, reward from field research task (see belolw) and also resources in the research Defeat all challengers)

To complete the Research Collection Challenge, you will receive 1510 XP, 3 Silver Pinap Berries and a Ditto encounter.

Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto field research tasks and rewards explained

During the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, you’ll be able to collect a series of unique field research tasks by spinning PokéStops. These tasks will only appear during the event itself, but if you don’t delete them, they can be completed as soon as the event ends.

Still, we recommend completing it during the event itself, as this will help you complete the Research Collection Challenge.

In addition, there are some reward tasks for Stardust, such as defeating several Go Tour Challengers.

Here are some tips that will help you complete the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research on Pokémon Go:

• Although this special research mission line does not have a deadline, it is easier to complete during the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, thanks to the increased spawn rate of certain Pokémon.
• Remote Raid Passes now allow you to participate in raids from the comfort of your home. You can even grab some free Remote Raid Passes during the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event.
• If you want to quickly win some hearts with your Pokémon friend, try feeding him red fruit treats, playing with him, or giving him a Poffin.
• Having trouble with Nice Throws? Find a Pokémon with a large capture radius like Mr. Mime, as this will make it easier to judge your shots.
• If you are having trouble finding a variety of Pokémon species, try placing one of the special Bait Modules – Glacial, Magnetic or Moss – in a PokéStop. Each of these modules will attract a different type of Pokémon, making it easier to find a wide variety of creatures.
• Incense will also attract Pokémon to your location, allowing you to find a wider variety of Pokémon.
