Tarrant County reports single day of discharge 3,361 COVID-19 cases, 18 deaths – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Tarrant County Public Health reported on Saturday 3,361 additional cases of COVID-19, with an additional 18 deaths. The case number represented a single-day high for the county, counting only the data processed on Thursday.

The information from January 1 to 2 will be released on Sunday, confirmed a spokesman for the health department.

Dallas County also reported a single-day rise on Saturday.

Data from the county health department indicate that of the additional cases reported on Saturday, 2,865 cases were confirmed, while the other 496 are likely.

The county did not file any cases on Friday because of the New Year’s holiday.

The 18 additional deaths reported on Saturday bring the total coronavirus-related deaths in Tarrant County to 1,512.

The deaths included a Fort Worth woman in her 90s; four men in their 80s in North Richland Hills, Arlington, Mansfield and Grand Prairie; five men and two women in their 70s in North Richland Hills, Mansfield, Sanson Park, Fort Worth, Arlington, Haltom City and Azle; an Arlington man and woman in their 60s; an Arlington man and woman in their 50s; a Fort Worth man in his 40s; and a Fort Worth man in his 30s.

All but one had underlying health problems, according to the health department.

The county began reporting probable and confirmed cases in August, at the request of the state health department. Probable cases, the county said, are responsible for a variety of real-world situations and can highlight cases in the community that would otherwise not be reported. To date, the county has reported 134,011 confirmed cases of the virus and 19,354 probable cases for a total of 153,365 cases.

The county is also reporting another 1,366 estimated recoveries, bringing the total number of survivors to 110,335.

Of the county’s cases, 71% of those who died were over 65 years old. 25 to 44 years old constitute the highest percentage of people with COVID-19, 36%.

According to the COVID-19 public health panel in Tarrant County, on Friday, adult ICUs were 99% full and the total bed occupancy rate for all hospital beds in the county was 87% .

The health department reported that 1,399 patients with COVID-19 are occupying hospital beds in the county on Thursday. A month ago, on December 1, 884 patients with COVID-19 occupied hospital beds in Tarrant County.
