Targus is a manufacturer of accessories that has been around for a long time and its CES product list this year focuses on three main themes: portability, sustainability and, of course, staying healthy during a pandemic (via Engadget)

The company’s brand products for pandemic health are the 2Office antimicrobial backpack and the UV-C LED disinfection light. The light is designed to stand above the keyboard and mouse and bathe them in UV-C light to help eliminate microorganisms that may be circulating in your high-touch accessories. It automatically switches on for five minutes every hour, but you shouldn’t worry about interrupting your work: it uses motion sensors to detect whether you are using the computer and will wait to start your cleaning cycle until you are gone.
If you’re not interested in ultraviolet light to clean your keyboard and mouse (although, in fact, it can be used for anything), Targus also announced that it is working on antimicrobial mice and keyboards.

The 2Office backpack, which can accommodate laptops up to 17.3 inches, has an antimicrobial coating on the “main contact points”. The bag can be useful if you have to go out in a pandemic, but I can think of other uses for an antimicrobial bag when travel starts again. (Who else felt awkward about hanging your backpack on a bathroom door?) If you’re not looking for a brand new backpack, the company also announced cases for antimicrobial tablets, along with antimicrobial privacy screens for selected computer monitors.
The company also announced a dock and a sturdy case for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 3. The dock uses Samsung’s DeX software that allows you to connect the tablet to a monitor for a more desktop-like experience. For iPad owners, Targus also announced an EcoSmart case, which is made from recycled materials.
Finally, Targus announced new antimicrobial privacy screens, which cost between $ 35 and $ 185, depending on the devices they are intended for. The screens are now available, with the rest of the announced devices arriving this spring. Currently, no exact price or date has been provided for those.
