Taraji P. Henson is opening up about a “dark moment” that she faced earlier this year, which made her wonder if she still wanted to live.
When the coronavirus pandemic first appeared around the world in early March, Henson was one of many who were intrigued by a confined life, as Americans were forced to stay at home. The entertainment industry, no less, meant that actors, cast and crew were out of work because the studios were in limbo.
It was then that the 50-year-old actress said she was struggling to get out of bed in the morning.
“For a few days, I couldn’t get out of bed and that’s not me,” revealed Henson in his series “Peace of Mind with Taraji” on Facebook Watch while speaking with co-host Tracie Jade and psychologist Dr. LaShonda Green (via People magazine).
The “Empire” star went on to say that he started “thinking about ending this”.

The Golden Globe winner had thoughts of suicide for two nights before deciding to communicate her feelings to someone else. She said she felt “withdrawn”.
“People were calling me, I didn’t answer. I just didn’t care, ”explained Henson.
Fortunately, Henson said he spoke to a girlfriend despite feeling “ashamed” and fearing his friends “would think I’m crazy”.

“Then one day, I just told my girlfriend everything. She called me in the morning and I said, ‘You know, I thought about killing myself last night. God, I feel so much better. I’m not going to do that right now. “
Revealing his harmful thoughts out loud turned out to be exactly what Henson needed to fight the feelings and begin to heal, she said. Green told Henson that having these unwanted feelings is sometimes “absolutely normal”.
