Tar Heels won 8 seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament

The college basketball season 2020-21 was unlike any other due to the pandemic COVID-19 and the uncertainty of the weekly games. Although the games were canceled during the year, the conference tournaments have officially ended and it is time for the real madness to begin.

Upon completion of the Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis, the selection committee officially revealed the key to the 68-team field with its annual CBS special.

For North Carolina’s Tar Heels, they officially won 8 points in the South, after 18-10 overall and 10-6 in conference games. UNC will face No. 9 Wisconsin on Friday, with time yet to be determined.

The Southern Region is a difficult region that includes Baylor seeded number 1, Ohio State No. 2, Arkansas No. 3 and Purdue No. 4. Villanova as 5th seed is also an interesting team to watch.

Tar Heels has won three of his last four games entering the tournament, including defeating Duke and winning his first two games at the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. His solitary defeat in this four-game straight was a fair loss for the State of Florida in the ACC semi-final on Friday.

Getting a No. 8 seed is not really terrible for a Tar Heels team that has had its difficulties this season, although UNC wanted a No. 7 seed. Just a month ago, they found themselves in the bubble and needed to take advantage of some games in their schedule. That included beating Louisville and Florida State on consecutive Saturdays and then ending with a big home win over Duke.

With UNC playing better lately and showing signs of improvement, they can be difficult in the tournament. Especially if your big ones continue to dominate and the guards get better here in March. Most importantly, these players are gaining some experience in NCAA Tournaments that can be huge for future seasons.
