Roberts was 65 years old.
CNN and other media outlets, citing their longtime aide, Mike Pingel, had previously reported that Roberts had died on Sunday night. O’Brien told CNN that he was upset after saying goodbye to Roberts by the hospital bed on Sunday and left believing it would be the last time he would see her.
On Monday morning, O’Brien received a call from the hospital and learned that Roberts was still alive, according to Pingel and O’Brien. CNN updated its report to reflect that Roberts was still alive and in a critical condition on Monday afternoon.
O’Brien said he was notified after 9 pm PST on Monday that the actress had died.
Roberts was hospitalized in Los Angeles on December 24, after passing out at her home in California after a walk with her dogs. The cause of her death was not disclosed, but O’Brien and Pingel told CNN earlier that she tested negative for Covid-19.
Born Victoria Leigh Blum, Roberts began her career as a model before entering the cinema. A 30-year career in film and TV followed.
She had leading roles in cult favorites “The Beastmaster” and “Sheena: Queen of the Jungle”. And she appeared on several popular TV shows of the time, including “Fantasy Island”, “The Love Boat” and a season of “Charlie’s Angels” as one of the three main characters.
Then came his most iconic role up to that point. In 1985, she played geologist Stacey Sutton in ‘A View to a Kill’, alongside Roger Moore in her final release as 007.
Roberts then gained a new legion of fans during his time as Midge, Donna Pinciotti’s stupid mother, in “That 70s Show”. She suddenly left the sitcom in its fourth season to look after her husband, now deceased, who had been diagnosed with an illness. (She returned in later seasons as a recurring character.)
His last appearance on the screen was in 2005 on the TV series “Barbershop”.
