T-Mobile’s Magenta Max plan comes with truly unlimited data

T-Mobile is presenting a plan later this week that will end the bottleneck almost entirely. Your new Magenta Max plan includes unlimited premium data and unlimited 4K video streaming. It also comes with 40 GB of high-speed tethering data (T-Mobile will speed up your devices to 3G speeds after you exceed this limit), plus benefits like free WiFi on board Gogo and international roaming in 210 countries.

All so-called “unlimited” plans in the U.S. (and some other parts of the world) currently limit customers after they exceed their monthly data quota. T-Mobile says it will not do this with Magenta Max, whether you are using the plan to access a 5G or LTE connection to your network. The company says it is launching a plan to “show what a truly powerful 5G network can do for consumers”.

Magenta Max will replace the operator’s existing Magneta Plus plan on February 24. For a limited time, T-Mobile says you can get the plan for $ 47 a month – but that’s if you already have three lines in your account and take advantage of the automatic payment promotion. Single-line customers can expect to pay $ 85 a month with autopay. Parallel to the plan, the operator is launching a promotion for those who want to exchange. If you come with your own device to the operator, it will carry your phone number for free. In addition, current customers of AT&T and Verizon (parent of Engadget) can receive up to $ 650 in the form of a prepaid card when making the switch.

Regular Magenta customers can also expect something new. The plan now comes with 100 GB of premium data, compared to 50 GB that it has tracked since 2017. It now also includes 5 GB of high-speed tethering data, up from the 3 GB that came previously.
