Netflix has released new images and the synopsis of its upcoming horror anime series titled Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, based on the popular Capcom video game franchise. Scheduled to debut later this year, you can check out the full photos in the gallery below, along with the new key art poster, featuring the main characters!

The official synopsis of the series is as follows:

In 2006, there were traces of improper access to the president’s secret files found on the White House network. American federal agent Leon S. Kennedy is among the group invited to the White House to investigate the incident, but when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to take down a horde of mysterious zombies. Meanwhile, TerraSave team member Claire Redfield finds a mysterious image drawn by a young man in a country she visited, while providing support to refugees. Haunted by this drawing, which appears to be a victim of viral infection, Claire begins her own investigation. The next morning, Claire visits the White House to request the construction of a wellness center. There, she has a reunion with Leon and takes the opportunity to show him the boy’s drawing. Leon seems to sense some kind of connection between the zombie outbreak at the White House and the strange cartoon, but he tells Claire that there is no relationship and leaves. Over time, these two zombie outbreaks in distant countries lead to events that shake the nation at its core.

In addition, the streamer has also announced the main cast of voices for the series with Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello officially signing, which are both known by fans as the reinvented 2019 voice actors. Resident Evil 2 and will return to his Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield roles from the hit title.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be a series of horror and action based on the stories of two popular characters from the franchise, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. By adding suspense to dynamic action scenes, Netflix says the series will reveal a resident Evil world unlike anything that has ever been seen.

The series will be produced and supervised by Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who is responsible for bringing several titles in the resident Evil series into existence. TMS Entertainment will produce the series, while Quebec, led by Kei Miyamoto, the producer of Resident Evil: Vendetta, will be responsible for the complete production of the 3DCG animation.

Since the first game was released in 1996 on the Sony PlayStation, the resident Evil the series is reaching its 25th anniversary. The huge franchise is known as the gold standard for survival horror games, with more than 100 million units of the game series sold worldwide.
