Switch rated the biggest handheld device ever by The Guardian UK

Remember the N-Gage? Definitely yes. The cell phone and the portable device were owned by all wealthy school nerds around the world, but we could never convince our parents that it was a great idea to allow us to join our communication device with that damn Gaming Boy that we spent all of our time in. The joke is yours, parents: now all has a phone that plays.

We feel a little justified to discover that N-Gage is only 17th on The Guardian’s list of the 20 best portable consoles of all time, far below the Nintendo Switch (which we obviously all own), the DS (which we … probably all have it?) and the 3DS (which we we must all themselves, because it’s the best).

The rating, written by former Guardian Games editor Keith Stuart (well-known Dreamcast fan), puts the Nintendo Switch in pole position, despite being only the fourth best-selling laptop of all time, behind the PSP, DS and Game Boy Advance.

The DS is right behind the Switch, and the 3DS is in third, with the Game Boy Advance and SP in fourth, and the Game Boy in fifth. Only in 6th place does a non-Nintendo laptop take a look: the PlayStation Vita.

The Guardian’s reasoning to put the Nintendo Switch first is simple: the fusion of the portable and home console combines the largest parts of all its previous consoles into one.

“The Switch is essentially the culmination of everything Nintendo has tried to do with games since 1989. […] The Switch is more than a piece of technology – it sometimes feels like a friend. “

Do you agree or think the 3DS was stolen? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
