The great provocation was today for Law and Order: SVU, as star Mariska Hargitay and ex-costar Chris Meloni provided further evidence of selfies about his expected return to the series.
Meloni attacked first on Instagram, posting a black and white photo of him Hargitay with the caption: “We are a little closer”. This was followed a few hours later by Hargitay, who posted a color photo on Instagram proclaiming, “Now even closer”, with the hashtag “#EO”.
Meloni must return for a special photo in her role as Eliot Stabler. It’s a prelude to the debut of your own franchise vehicle, Law and Order: Organized Crime, and marks your first photo as a guest on Law and order universe since he left the show almost a decade ago. In the show world, he retired. In real life, contractual issues intervene. Apparently, everything is forgiven.
Meloni and Hargitay were members of the original cast for SVU, which started airing in 1999. Meloni left the series in 2011. Hargitay and Meloni were partners in the show, but never romantic interests.
Fans were also teased last year about the comeback, when Meloni appeared at the virtual table read by Hargitay and showrunner Warren Leight.
