GRAFTON, Wis. (WMTV) – The suspect in the case of purposely spoiled vaccines will not be charged until next week due to the holiday.
The 46-year-old Grafton man has been a pharmacist in Wisconsin for decades, according to WITI.
Police said they arrested him on Thursday on suspicion of reckless danger, adulteration of a prescription drug and criminal damage to property. The department said in a press release that he is being held at Ozaukee County Jail.
Dr. Jeff Bahr, president of the Aurora Health Care Medical Group, says that a pharmaceutical technician first discovered 57 vials of the vaccine out of the refrigerator on the morning of December 26.
At first, the authorities thought it was an accident. But the suspect later admitted to deliberately leaving them out.
“We were able to adapt very, very quickly to the current situation. We were able to obtain additional vaccines from other locations in our system, ”said Bahr.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Security and Professional Services, the suspect has no record of previous investigations or disciplinary actions.
He now faces several charges, including first-degree security recklessly.
