‘Survivor: Palau’ contestant Angie Jakusz, dead at 40

Angie Jakusz, a competitor of Survivortenth season of, passed away January 8, after losing a long battle with cancer, reports People. She was 40 years old.

Jakusz was just 25 years old when she was cast for Survivor: Palau in 2005. At the time, she worked as a bartender and artist in New Orleans, Louisiana.

When she arrived at the game, she was the target of the first tribal council after the Ulong tribe lost the immunity challenge. After that, she impressed her tribe by performing well in challenges, breaking her tribe’s initial judgments about her colorful tattoos and bold piercings.

Despite successfully integrating with his tribe, Ulong’s losing streak continued, and Jakusz became the sixth person eliminated from the game.

“We heard from her family three years ago that she was battling cancer,” Palau co-star Coby Archa told People. “We raised some money for her treatments. She didn’t like fame, just the experience of Survivor. She came, played and went back to her life in New Orleans. She liked her life that way. “

Jakusz is the second cast member of Survivor: Palau to pass away. Jenn Lyon died in 2010 after her battle with breast cancer. Archa posted a tribute photo on Instagram (below) of his two lost tribesmen.
