Surviving Mars updates and DLC to continue with a new developer

Surviving Mars is currently available for free at the Epic store. Now may be a good time to board a rocket to Mars as well: during tonight’s Paradox Insider stream, the strategy editor announced that the development of new content for the game has resumed with a new development studio at the helm.

This new work starts to be launched this Monday with a free update of Tourism and DLC of Buildings In-Dome.

The tour upgrade is free and allows visitors to your colony to give your stay a Vacation Experience Rating, which players can improve by building new hotels, zero-G amusement parks and building a safari route for the Rovers to drive.

The In-Dome Buildings package, however, will cost £ 4. It was created in partnership with the modder from the Silva community, and adds 8 new buildings to build.

The investigation into Surviving Mars updates is now being led by Abstraction, a Netherlands-based studio best known for working on ports and support for games from other companies. They are also working with EA on performance optimization for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.

This is not the first time that Paradox employs a new studio to continue the long-term updates to an existing game. In 2019, they acquired Introversion Software’s Prison Architect and delivered the development of new expansions to Double Eleven.

Surviving Mars has already been vastly improved by the expansions, and Nate wrote in his Surviving Mars: Green Planet review that the DLC, which added the ability to terraform Mars, was the moment when the game really clicked for him.

The original developers of Surviving Mars Haemimont, in turn, were the first studio signed by the developer Elite Dangerous Frontier’s third-party publishing initiative in 2019. There was no announcement of what Haemimont is doing, but they typically create strategy and management games .
