Platinum Games has just released an Apple Arcade exclusive called World of Demons.
World of Demons is an action game, which comes as no surprise, as Platinum is the developer of some of the best action games on the market, such as Bayonetta and NieR: Automata. The trailer is below:
This takes place in a fantastic world full of yokai – a class of supernatural monsters and spirits of Japanese folklore. (Ewan Wilson wrote a fascinating article for Eurogamer about yōkai in From Software’s Sekiro, which is worth reading if you want to know more.)
Here is the official synopsis of World of Demons:
“Players will take on the role of a samurai leading an army of yokai minions as they embark on a mission against evil. The game takes place in a beautiful setting inspired by traditional Japanese art with beautiful stages taken from ukiyo-e woodcut prints. , they’ll find samurai allies and a yokai zoo, each with their own techniques and matching possibilities. the oni.
“Sharpen your steel while this samurai tale is about to begin.”
Note: World of Demons requires iOS 13.0 or later and weighs 2.8 GB.
The World of Demons announcement is part of a renewed effort for Apple Arcade, which has just won 32 new games, including 11 new “Arcade Originals”. World of Demons is one of 11 Arcade Originals. Others include NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition, Simon’s Cat: Story Time, Star Trek: Legends, The Oregon Trail, Cut the Rope Remastered, SongPop Party and Fantasian, a Mistwalker diorama adventure RPG (the story is by Hironobu Sakaguchi, and the music is by Nobuo Uematsu). In other Platinum-related news, it looks like the developer is actually making the game he teased as a April Fool’s Day joke last year.
This week, Platinum released a trailer for Sol Cresta, a shmup expected for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC. It is a sequel to the 1985 Terra Cresta arcade game.
There is a lot going on at Platinum. It is doing Project GG, Bayonetta 3 and the Fall of Babylon.
