Superman’s son would have been the new Batman – / Film

New Batman

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is finally available to watch on HBO Max, and while it seems almost impossible for Snyder to be able to complete his larger vision for a planned five-film arc that would include Steel man, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, Justice League 2, and Justice League 3, this does not stop people from asking the director about their plans for what would have happened in those sequences.

And damn it, Snyder had a doozy plan designed to Justice League 3.

Warning: the following contains spoilers for Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Some Necessary History

The infamous Knightmare sequence in this film features an unlikely group of battle-hardened companions wandering through a post-apocalyptic desert: Batman, Jared Leto’s Joker, Deathstroke, Flash, Mera and Cyborg. At the edge of civilization, the group comes face to face with an evil superman who is under the control of the supervillain Darkseid thanks to the Anti-Life Equation – and then Bruce Wayne wakes up. It was all another dream … but also a look at a possible future.

“Darkseid comes to Earth,” explained Snyder to Vanity Fair about how the story would have played out. “Superman says to Batman, ‘Guard Lois. This is a war between me and Darkseid. If you can help me as a friend, keep Lois safe. ‘Lex tells Darkseid that the key to Superman’s weaknesses is to kill Lois Lane. For some reason, Batman fails. Darkseid comes back and kills Lois. Batman fails, he hesitates. They were in an argument. ”That’s when Darkseid uses the Anti-Life Equation to control Superman’s mind.

Snyder has already talked about how he wanted Bruce Wayne and Lois Lane to have a love affair while Superman was dead, but the studio did not allow him to continue with that subplot. If he had what he wanted, however, Justice League 2 it would have introduced that post-apocalyptic team going back in time to prevent Lois’s death, and Batman would sacrifice his life to save her and the rest of reality.

When Batman’s sacrifice changes the timeline, “Superman no succumb to the Anti-Life Equation, ”said Snyder. “So, the final film has Aquaman leading the forces of Atlantis, Diana leading the forces of Themyscira and Superman and Flash leading the forces of [humans] against Darkseid in a giant war. “

Snyder’s crazy plan for a new Batman

This is all very big, but it pales in comparison to what may be the biggest revelation of this whole series of five films: the identity of a new Batman.

If you watched Zack Snyder’s Justice League and thought to himself, “Wait a second, how about that scene where Lois opens a drawer and has a pregnancy test over there? Why has this never been rewarded in history? ”, It seems like it was just the first hint of a bigger revelation of who would have worn the cape and hood in a timeline that no longer had Batman in it.

“It would be the son of Lois and Superman,” Snyder told Vanity Fair. “He has no power, and then he would end up being the new Batman. Twenty years later, on the anniversary of [Batman’s] death, they take young Bruce Kent to the Batcave and say, ‘Your uncle Bruce would be proud if you did that.’ “

Wow. The mind reels with the implications here, and it looks like it would be the end of the whole arc, so we wouldn’t have seen any of the adventures in this version of Batman. Did this Bruce Kent have superpowers as the son of a Kryptonian? Did Batman have vision of heat and ice breath and flew without help? Purists are probably going to scoff at the idea of Snyder here, but I have to say … I kind of love it. It’s definitely a great swing, but it seems harmoniously in tune with your opinion of these characters, and it’s the kind of decision the studio would probably never have allowed. I may not love all aspects of Snyder’s DC films, but that? I would absolutely have agreed to a crazy move like this.
