‘Superman & Lois’ renewed for season 2 on CW – Deadline

Superman and Lois will be flying for another season. Following its strong multiplatform series debut last week, the CW renewed the superhero drama for a second season. It is one of the quickest renovations for a number of freshmen; in 2014, the CW ordered a second season of The Flash two weeks after the big premiere of that DC series.

“The phenomenal multiplatform debut of Superman and Lois, which worked for us in an excellent way, both on a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment ”. said Mark Pedowitz, President and CEO of The CW Network. “We are excited to now have two genuine new successes in Superman and walker, both renewed for the next season along with 11 others from our programs, positioning us even more for continued strength and stability for the next season. “

The premiere of the current 90-minute drama series based on DC characters has elevated the CW to its best prime time night in more than two years since January 29, 2019, according to Nielsen. In addition, the premiere delivered the largest streaming audience on the first day of a new series in CW history.

The series’ premiere grew by over a million viewers (1.7 million to 2.7 million) on Live + 3, while nearly doubling live viewing on the same day among adults aged 18 to 34, growing 93% in L + 3, according to Nielsen and the network.

Superman and Lois
brings the number of renewed CW series to 13 for the 2021-2022 season to 13. Still pending are Kung Fu, the Republic of Sarah and Stargirl, none of which debuted their current seasons.

Superman and Lois
stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent / Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Jordan Elsass as Jonathan Kent, Alexander Garfin as Jordan Kent, Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing, Inde Navarrette as Sarah Cushing, Wolé Parks as The Stranger, Adam Rayner as Morgan Edge with Dylan Walsh as General Samuel Lane and Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang Cushing.

Based on DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman and Lois is developed by Greg Berlanti and Todd Helbing, who serve as executive producers, with Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns. Todd Helbing wrote the teleplay for the first episode, based on a story by Berlanti and Helbing. Lee Toland Krieger was the executive producer and directed the first episode.
