Super Mario 3D World postpones FIFA’s resurgence | UK Box Charts

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser Fury is No.1 for the second week in a row.

The exclusive Nintendo Switch dropped 61% in sales compared to the previous week, which is a solid result for a game in its second week on the charts. The remastered Wii U is comfortably the new best-selling game of the year (so far).

It avoids fierce competition from FIFA 21, which had another boost in sales thanks to the recent price cut. Cash sales of the game increased 140% last week, and this week increased 59%.

Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is also available. There was a lack of normal Switch stock on the market last week, with only package options available, of which Mario Kart was a standout accessory. The game increased 19% in sales and went from No.5 to No.3.

That means Animal Crossing: New Horizons drops to position 4, its lowest position so far this year, with a 4% drop in sales week by week.

Closing the Top Five is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which actually rose one place despite sales dropping 9% in the week.

There will be a real shortage of games in the coming months, with a handful of Switch releases and nothing else. Bravely Default 2 on Switch will be released next week, while Monster Hunter: Rise arrives in late March. The first really big games in the PS5 and Xbox series of the year do not arrive until May, with Returnal, Resident Evil: Village and Deathloop the first notable games.

As a result, we can expect this physical retail chart to be heavily influenced by price discounts and the arrival of new console inventory for all three major platforms.
