The Super Bowl LVI logo to be held in Los Angeles in February 2022 was released today, initially posted on the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee website and later shared by the Los Angeles Rams on social media.
The logo prominently displays the Lombardi Trophy and incorporates palm trees and colors that reflect the Southern California sunset within Roman numerals, bringing a local touch to an otherwise design that has been in use since the Super Bowl XLV in 2011 and was slightly modified for the Super Bowl 50 in 2016 and beyond.

Here is a more detailed look at the Super Bowl LVI logo:

And now compare to the last two Super Bowl model styles:

As you can see, it is certainly a better design, which will likely lead to some extra regional touches in future logos. For example, the Super Bowl LVII, which will be held in Arizona in 2023, may feature some images of cacti in Roman numerals or even the flag of the state of Arizona.
Compare that to what the two previous models would have given us, which would be the stadium behind the trophy or, as it was last year, just a slightly recolored bar at the bottom.
And now a graph of the updated Super Bowl logo history, which you can click to get a closer look:

The Super Bowl LVI will be held on February 6, 2022 at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California, home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams. It will be the first in the Los Angeles metropolitan area since 1993, when Super Bowl XXVII was held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
The Super Bowl was held at the Rose Bowl or Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum seven times, including the first Super Bowl – then known as the AFL-NFL World Championship Game – in 1967.

Interestingly, Los Angeles was originally awarded the Super Bowl LV, but delays in building SoFi Stadium forced the NFL to hand over the game to Tampa. This allowed Tampa Bay Buccaneers to become the first team in league history to play the Super Bowl in their own territory, while Los Angeles was again awarded the Super Bowl LVI.
The committee also revealed its own logo for the game, which consists of lines that evoke the exclusive outline of the SoFi Stadium, along with the motto “Champions Shine Here”. It was accompanied by a video with the rap icon Snoop Dogg.
