Super Bowl 2021 participants will have additional mask guidance for high-traffic areas in Tampa, says the mayor

Super Bowl LV participants will have to wear masks in some outdoor areas in the Tampa, Florida area, Mayor Jane Castor announced on Wednesday.

Castor commented on the use of additional mask in a Facebook Live stream with Mayor Quinton Lucas of Kansas City, Missouri, ahead of the game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs, scheduled to take place on February 7, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

“We are approving an order for an additional mask that will require outdoor masks in areas that we hope will be densely populated by Super Bowl fans,” Castor told the newspaper.

Castor’s office is expected to release more details about the mask order on Thursday. Castor spokeswoman Ashley Bauman told the Tampa Bay Times that NFL volunteers are expected to comply with the order and give masks to fans.

The city of Florida already has a mask ordinance in place, but for those going into business.

Raymond James Stadium, which was open to fans at certain times of the season, has its own mask requirements. The stadium requires fans to wear facial covers when entering bag display areas until they leave the stadium, unless they are eating or drinking. Unauthorized use is also not allowed.
