Sufjan Stevens announced the launch of his new five-volume collection Convocations with a new song called “Meditation V.” The first volume, Meditations, leaves tomorrow (April 8) by Asthmatic Kitty; the entire project, which also includes Lamentations, Revelations, Celebrations and Charms—It will be released on May 6.
Stevens wrote and recorded the project as a tribute to his biological father, who died in September 2020, two days after Stevens released it The rise. Each volume should reflect a different stage of mourning. The project’s 5xLP vinyl box will launch on August 20th.
In February, Stevens shared a video directed by Luca Guadagnino for his song “Tell Me You Love Me”. In the previous month, he and CARM released “Song of Trouble”.
