Sudden death of COVID-19 nurse leaves six children in need

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Vania Underwood passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 19, from COVID-19. Her husband, Issac, says she was a loving wife and, above all, a caring mother.

She left six wonderful children between the ages of 3 and 16.

Vania was a Registered Nurse at ABC Home Healthcare and also worked at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, where she attended patients at the COVID-19 unit.

Her husband tells 13abc that Vania started to have symptoms of the virus, developing pain in her leg and difficulty breathing just two weeks before losing the battle for the same virus she worked on the front line to help people recover from.

A GoFundMe page was created to help the Underwood family with the unexpected expenses of their death. You can click here to donate.
