A storm passing through parts of the plains and the Mississippi valley is likely to bring heavy snow, meteorologists warned on Sunday.
Winter storm warnings were in effect across much of the country, from eastern New Mexico to central Mississippi.
“There is likely to be heavy snow and dangerous travel conditions, especially in Texas,” tweeted the Weather Service on Sunday morning.
On its website, the Meteorological Service said heavy snow could make the trip dangerous from midwest Texas to northern Louisiana.
The climate system has also hit the southern Rocky Mountains.

“The areas north of Denver received more snow tonight, with some points approaching 4,” “meteorologists from the Weather Service in Boulder tweeted earlier on Sunday.
They also warned travelers early in the morning to watch out for dense and uneven fog and untreated roads that can be slippery due to snow at night and freezing temperatures.
Other parts of the US will also experience significant snowfall.
“Snow has spread from the southern plains to the Central Appalachians; possible storms over southern Texas today,” the Meteorological Service said in a note released at 2:20 am ET on Sunday.

“The rain is likely to spread over the Gulf Coast and the Southeast / Mid-Atlantic in the next few days,” he said. “The snow is expected to continue in northern Texas today, before it spreads over an area that extends to the Central Appalachians on Tuesday.”

“Winter storm warnings and winter weather warnings have been posted for much of southern AR starting today through Monday,” tweeted the Weather Service office in Little Rock, Arkansas, Sunday morning. “1 to 3 inch snowfall will be possible at the southern end of the AR, usually an inch or less further north.”
