Stop hating James Harden for a second

Over there’There is no doubt that James Harden’s departure from Houston was less than ideal. He had a tantrum similar to that of a three-year-old at a grocery store before being traded to Brooklyn.

But no matter how Harden left the city, his last days in Houston don’t define his entire term there. Of course, the superstar still has a love for the place that helped transform it into a future Hall of Fame.

It was reported late on Sunday that Harden donated 3,000 meals to people in Houston affected by the severe cold that hit Texas last week. The entire state has experienced power cuts and food shortages since historic snow levels and sub-zero temperatures destroyed the state’s infrastructure.

At a post-match press conference on Sunday, Harden said he is constantly making calls to people in the city to more effectively help those affected.

Earlier this month, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors delivered a fiery speech about how players are vilified when they say they want to be traded, highlighting inconsistencies in the way organizations and fans treat these players. And there were certainly many in Houston who saw Harden differently because of his repeated requests to leave, and they continued to prove Green’s point.

However, as Green emphasized, these players also have a humanity that should not be ignored. The same humanity that says “I deserve to be happy”, when asking for an exchange, also says “I must help people” during a crisis.

I’m not saying it’s okay how Harden sailed out of Houston. But I support your decision to want to leave an organization, if you wish. We often put athletes in robotic patterns, and when someone tries to break the shape, we crush them.

You cannot criticize Harden for wanting to exploit his happiness and be quiet about his selflessness towards ordinary Texans who face a life or death situation.

Good at Harden for trying to help the Houston community.
