US stock indexes rose on Thursday morning in an abbreviated holiday session.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 62 points, or 0.2%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.21% and 0.22%, respectively. All three main averages ended with 1% of the high records on Wednesday.
The stock markets will close at 1 pm ET on Thursday in keeping with Christmas Eve and will remain closed on Friday for Christmas.

The American Airlines Group is moving forward with the recall of more than 8,000 flight attendants, despite President Trump’s hesitation to sign the bill, which he said contained “waste and unnecessary spending”.
Elsewhere, Alibaba Group was under pressure after a Chinese regulator announced an anti-monopoly investigation on the e-commerce giant. Other Chinese e-commerce companies, including JD.com, also saw a decline.
In the negotiations, a group of institutional investors led by the Apollo Group agreed to buy a 49.9% stake in Anheuser-Busch InBev’s can factories in the United States for $ 3 billion. AB InBev, which is using the proceeds to pay debts and create wealth for shareholders, has the right to repurchase the stake five years after the deal is closed.
Looking at commodities, West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 32 cents to $ 47.80 a barrel, and gold fell $ 4.20 to $ 1,873.90 a ounce.

In Europe, Britain’s FTSE 100 was trading up 0.1%, with the UK and EU approaching a Brexit deal and France’s CAC 40 falling 0.1%. Germany’s DAX 30 has been closed.
Asian markets ended up mixed, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index up 0.16% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 up 0.54%, while China’s Shanghai Composite fell 0.57%.
