Steven Soderbergh to direct New Line Pic ‘KIMI’, starring Zoe Kravitz – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: After signing a general contract with HBO Max, Steven Soderbergh seems to have found his next feature with the studio. He came on board to direct the feature film New Line Max Original KIMI with Zoë Kravitz on board to star. The film will have an exclusive debut on HBO Max. David Koepp wrote the script and will produce together with Michael Polaire.

The film follows an agoraphobic technician who discovers recorded evidence of a violent crime during a common data flow review and tries to report it in his company’s chain of command. Finding resistance and bureaucracy, she realizes that in order to get involved, she will have to do what she fears most – leaving her apartment.

The film would mark the second collaboration between Warner Bros. Pictures Group, HBO Max and Soderbergh since the recent studio restructuring and the third between Soderbergh and HBO Max. No sudden movement, the next police thriller starring Max Original from Warner Bros. Pictures featuring Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, David Harbor, Amy Seimetz, Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta, Kieran Culkin, Brendan Fraser, Noah Jupe, Bill Duke, Frankie Shaw and Julia Fox. His most recent photo Let everyone talk, with Meryl Streep, debuted on HBO Max in December.

Kravitz has been on the rise lately, after getting the coveted role of Catwoman in Matt Reeve Batman, where she stars alongside Robert Pattinson, who will play Caped Crusader. In addition, she received strong reviews as the star of the Hulu series High Fidelity and HBO’s Big Little Lies.

Koepp is a veteran screenwriter whose on-screen credits include Jurassic Park, Death Becomes Her, Carlito’s Way, Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man, and Panic room.

Soderbergh is represented by Michael Sugar at Sugar23 and Jamie Feldman at Lichter Grossman Nichols. Kravitz is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Edelstein, Laird & Sobel. Koepp is represented by CAA and Myman Greenspan Fox.
