Steve Kerr will have “difficult conversations” when the Warriors centers return

Steve Kerr will have to make some tough decisions for the Warriors soon.

Although Kerr has officially ruled out the James Wiseman and Kevon Looney centers for Friday and Saturday games against the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets, respectively, his comeback is imminent.

And when Wiseman and Looney return – which could be Tuesday against the New York Knicks – choices will need to be made.

“The biggest challenge is figuring out who I’m going to play with,” said Kerr in his pre-match media availability on Friday. “Everyone I played there really won the right to be on the ground. But I can’t play 12 guys. Too many … so this is the most complicated. Many guys played well and we have to find out who is going to play.”

When Wiseman and Looney return, Kerr will have to decide first which one to start. Then he is in charge of finding minutes for Juan Toscano-Anderson, Eric Paschall and Draymond Green at the central point. He tilted his hand a little, saying he likes to start Looney because of the presence he brings in the defense. If that is the case, they will have to find a good time for Wiseman so that he can continue developing.

“I’m going to have to have some difficult conversations with several guys,” said Kerr. “But this is the NBA. Our guys who have been around for a while, like Loon, they understand how the league works. And the younger guys, if they haven’t learned it yet, will learn that it’s their job to just be ready. If you can produce after a long stay on the bench, you have just become incredibly valuable, because it is a difficult thing to do. “
