Steph Curry of the Warriors ‘very doubtful’ for Saturday’s game against Grizzlies

The Warriors will likely have to continue winning without Steph Curry.

After Friday’s 116-103 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Curry was likely to miss Saturday’s second leg against the Grizzlies.

“He has a lot of doubts,” Kerr told reporters via videoconference after Friday’s victory. “It would be irresponsible on our part to interpret it at this point. He’s still in pain. “

The Warriors are taking it easy on Curry, who is dealing with a tailbone injury after suffering a strange fall against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. After Saturday, the Warriors’ next game is Tuesday at the Philadelphia 76ers.

“[Athletic trainer] Drew Yoder told me that we need to make sure that he is stable and strong in that area, the muscles around the injury, ”said Kerr. “It is not even a matter of temptation to put it out there. We will only do what is right in medical terms. When he is ready, he will be ready. “

Andrew Wiggins stepped up in Curry’s absence on Friday and scored 40 points, setting a new record since joining the Warriors. He finished with 14 of 24 field shots and 6 of 11 in the 3-point range, adding eight rebounds and four assists.

Jordan Poole maintained his good game with 25 points as a starter in place of Curry, while Draymond Green assumed the role of mediator and granted 13 assists.

The Warriors would love a similar effort from their team if Curry misses the next game, as expected.
