Several hours after a mob broke into the U.S. Capitol building to delay Joe Biden’s election victory certification, President Donald Trump has yet to condemn the riots.
Trump was quick to condemn peaceful riots and protests in the past, especially in cases where the target of the demonstration was police violence and racism.
Warriors star Steph Curry, who never measured words about Trump, found an example from the president, showing that he is capable of condemning riots – if conditions are right.
“There is literally a tweet for everything. The cat ate your tongue today, huh? “Curry wrote, citing a message from Trump this summer that suggested a minimum of 10 years in prison for any protester who damaged federal buildings.

Some Capitol rebels broke windows to enter the building, and reports indicate there is more damage inside after the crowd made their way through the halls and into the two chambers of Congress, forcing elected officials and officials to evacuate.
49ers cornerback Richard Sherman wondered aloud how the police would have treated crowds of rioters entering the Capitol building if the rioters were black.
“There are certain things that my brain could never imagine…. and one of them is black ppl breaking into a government building and taking things without deadly consequences. But this is just my brain “, he tweeted.
On a separate post, Sherman referred to the crowd as “terrorists”, echoing those who labeled the Capitol invasion as an act of domestic terrorism.
Klay Thompson and Steve Kerr let others speak, retweeting posts criticizing the president and questioning the rioters’ intelligence. Kerr shared a post by sports commentator Jemele Hill, who, like Sherman, pointed to the rioters’ race as a reason for the lack of immediate and significant police resistance.
“Let’s be clear about one thing: the reason the Capitol police were slow to respond is because they gave these whites the benefit of the doubt and treated it as a joke,” Hill I wrote. “Their reaction is not the same because they see blacks as a threat that needs to be eliminated.”
Kerr also shared an opinion piece by David Frum of The Atlantic calling for Trump’s removal as early as Wednesday night through the 1807 Uprising Act.
As for Trump, he tweeted several times throughout the afternoon, but never condemned the insurrection, telling his supporters who realized it that “we love you”. He also continued to falsely claim that the election had been stolen from him, and Twitter ended up blocking his account for the next 12 hours.
The Warriors, by the way, have a game on national television that will be broadcast at 19h. They will face the Los Angeles Clippers.
Two weeks from Wednesday, Joe Biden – whom Curry endorsed when speaking at the 2020 Democratic National Conference – will open to take over Trump’s Oval Office.
