Steph Curry is not among the top five NBA MVP candidates in the first ESPN poll

Steph Curry is having an incredible season.

The two-time NBA MVP averages 29.6 points, 5.9 assists and 5.4 rebounds in 25 games, while shooting 48.7 percent overall and 42.9 percent in 3-point territory.

But according to an ESPN poll, Curry is currently not one of the top five NBA MVP contenders.

He’s not even in the top six.

Curry came in seventh after receiving a vote for first place, a vote for second place, a vote for third place, two votes for fourth place and eight votes for fifth place.

So yes – it only appeared on 13 of the 100 ballots.

“To make voting as realistic as possible, there are at least two voters from each of the league’s 28 markets, as well as a selection of national and international reporters,” writes Tim Bontemps. “As with the official NBA vote at the end of the season, voters were asked to submit a five-player ballot and the results were tabulated using the league’s scoring system: 10 points for each vote for first place, followed by seven points for the second, five points for the third, three points for the fourth and one point for the fifth. “

LeBron James added more points, followed by Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. All six guys are having fantastic seasons and are worthy of their position.

But, clearly, Curry did not receive much love, mainly because the Warriors (13-12) are in eighth place in the Western Conference.

But if you keep playing like that – and if the Golden State starts winning more games – you’d better believe that the only unanimous MVP in NBA history will go up the ladder when the next poll is launched.
