Stefon Diggs had a spectacular debut season with the Buffalo Bills. After arriving in an Minnesota Vikings offseason deal, Diggs led the NFL in both receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535), and was deservedly named the first All-Pro team by the Associated Press.

Diggs also rode an incredible playoff race, taking six passes for 128 yards and a touchdown against the Colts, eight passes for 106 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens, and six passes for 77 yards against the Chiefs. Unfortunately for Diggs, the Bills season came to an end after the Chiefs game, with Buffalo losing the AFC Championship Game 38-24.

After the defeat, all of Diggs’ teammates went to the locker room while the Chiefs celebrated their second consecutive Lamar Hunt Trophy. But not Diggs. He remained on the field, watching the scene while the team that had just taken him out of the ball held up a trophy in celebration.

Watching your opponent celebrate for having accomplished exactly what you wanted is a difficult thing to do. There is a reason why not many players – in any sport – stay on the field or on the ice or on the court to see this happen. But apparently Diggs felt he had to be there, to get a good look at what he missed when his team fell short in the AFC title game. Perhaps he will use that as a motivation in the future.
