Steelers terminate Nelson contract

The Steelers terminated cornerback Steve Nelson’s contract after two seasons in black and gold.

Nelson, who played six seasons in the NFL, signed with the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent in 2019 for the Kansas City Chiefs.

He went straight into the squad, starting all 30 of the 30 games he played in two seasons. Nelson ended the 2020 season with 48 tackles, 43 of them solo, nine defense passes, two loss tackles and a fumble recovery. He also had two interceptions, both against the Philadelphia Eagles when he took down Carson Wentz twice.

In his two seasons with the Steelers, he had 109 tackles, 17 defensive passes, three interceptions, two losing tackles and two fumble recoveries.
