Steelers’ return to Pittsburgh is uncertain for Ben Roethlisberger

Just look at the impending quarterback carousel set to spin and spin to know that the Steelers’ situation with Ben Roethlisberger is precarious.

Deshaun Watson wants to leave Houston. Carson Wentz, chosen for the second general draft of 2016, will be competing for a spot this offseason. The third overall choice of 2018, Sam Darnold, will be on the commercial block. The 49ers are trying to get out of Jimmy Garroppolo.

Several teams will be on the market in search of a quarterback, either through a free agency or the NFL draft. One of these teams could include your Pittsburgh Steelers, while Big Ben is pending.

Roethlisberger wants to return and knows that he will have a reduced salary. But it’s not that simple. He is a future Hall of Fame in the twilight of his career. How long does he want to play? How exactly will this reduced salary be? Which veterans will return to protect you in your pocket?

Longtime Steelers insider Ed Bouchette, a guest on 93.7 The Fan today, points out that Big Ben is not going to play for anything. “He said he didn’t care about his salary, but I don’t believe that for a minute,” Bouchette told The PM Team with Poni & Mueller. “They will have to pay him where he will not be ashamed to go back and play. And I just don’t know if all of this is going to work. I was told it may not be yet.

Bouchette added that he has a feeling this is not going to go down that easily and said the first indication came from Steelers owner Art Rooney II. “I don’t know if they are fully embracing his return,” said Bouchette.

Rooney said last week that the team “left the door open”, which is not exactly a resounding endorsement.

Pittsburgh and Ben have a month and some changes to make something work. He is due to receive a $ 15 million list bonus on March 17th.

Either way, 2021 is not the season – or any season in that case – to be in trouble as a defender.
