It is a sad day for our family.
“My mom meant a lot, not just to all of us in the family, but she devoted a lot of her time and energy to helping those in need in the Pittsburgh community. She will make a lasting impression on many people and organizations in our area, especially the Salvation Army and many organizations on the North Side of Pittsburgh, where my parents lived.
“We are going to celebrate her life and the memories we have of her during this challenging time for our family. We thank everyone with their thoughts and prayers.”
Rooney was born on the North Side of Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. Due to COVID’s precautions, funeral arrangements are private. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. Contributions to the memorial can be made to the Salvation Army or Pittsburgh Park Conservation, or to the donor’s choice charity. The family would also like to thank the many caregivers who have provided wonderful care for her.
