The mother of the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, JuJu Smith-Schuster, posted on social media that she had been receiving death threats against her son.
After the Smith-Schuster green touchdown with 7:38 to the end of the fourth period in Pittsburgh’s 28-24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon, his mother, Sammy Toa-Schuster, posted a message in his story on Instagram.
“I captured that moment after my son’s touch because those are my true emotions … after weeks of so many hate messages and death threats … I can’t help but cry when my baby scored his TD. You love him when we win, but I hate it when we’re losing, “wrote Toa-Schuster.
Smith-Schuster had one of his most productive games in a while, when he managed nine receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown.

“Please remember when you are sending me hate messages … you also have a child, and I pray you never have an adult – send hate messages to the mother,” she posted. “Good victory as a ‘team’.

Smith-Schuster has been controversial lately. He started dancing on his opponent’s 50-yard line before the games, and the teams were starting to notice and take that as a sign of disrespect.

After the Steelers fell for Cincinnati Bengals last Monday night, Smith-Schuster announced that he would stop celebrating. The Steelers recovered against the Colts in Week 16 and won their first AFC North title since 2017.
