Steelers continue to make changes to the list

Lineup changes have been plentiful for Steelers in 2020, and continued when the team hired linebacker Tegray Scales for the 53-man lineup on Saturday.

In addition, the team elevated kicker Matthew Wright to the training team’s Active / Inactive list and dismissed striker Derwin Gray.

These moves were made shortly after the team announced on Saturday afternoon that kicker Chris Boswell and linebackers Marcus Allen and Ola Adeniyi had been relegated ‘out’ for Sunday’s game against the Colts.

Scales was hired by the training team on November 11 and was also elevated to the active / inactive list in week 14 against Buffalo and in week 15 against Cincinnati, playing in both games. Before being hired for the Steelers training team, Scales was on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers training team for a brief period in 2020 and also played for the Dallas Renegades in the XFL, before closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Scales originally signed with the Los Angeles Rams as a non-hired debutant free agent after the 2018 NFL Draft. He was dismissed by the team before the start of the season. Scales was hired for the Colts training team in December and the team released him at the end of the month. He spent time with the Steelers during the 2019 off-season, but was released before the start of the season. Scales played collegially in Indiana, where the linebacker had 325 tackles and 18 sacks.

Wright was elevated to the Active / Inactive list before the Week 13 game against Washington. He kicked a 37-yard field goal and hit his two attempts for extra points in that game. Wright was hired by the training team on November 30. Wright originally signed with the team as an uninvited free agent after the 2019 NFL Draft and spent the 2019 training camp with the team. Wright played at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he still holds the school’s record for career points (375) and goals scored (55).
