The NFL teams are lining up with veteran JJ Watt, shortly after he announced that the Houston Texans complied with his request for release.
League sources told ESPN on Friday that about 12 teams expressed interest in the NFL’s three-time Defense Player of the Year, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, where Watt’s two brothers, TJ and Derek, already play.

But the deciding factor for Watt, who is expected to turn 32 next month, will be choosing a team he believes can make it to the Super Bowl, the sources added. Watt suggested this mindset in November, when the Texans fired technician and general manager Bill O’Brien.
“I don’t think it’s a secret that I don’t have 10 years in this league anymore,” he said. “Personally, I believe I still have a few more big ones in me. But you can’t either … I’m not looking to rebuild. I’m looking to go after a championship, and that’s what I want to do.”

Watt said on Friday that the Texans “mutually” agreed to his release after 10 seasons.
He was chosen by the Texans with choice 11 in 2011. A professional player five times, Watt has set several franchise records, including sacks, tackles for loss, quarterback strikes and forced fumbles. He totaled 531 tackles, 61 defended passes and 16 fumble recoveries over 10 seasons.
