Now that the street price of an Nvidia RTX 3070 is over $ 1,200, it’s tempting to think that money changers, bots and cryptocurrency miners have gotten them all – but the latest Steam hardware research suggests that at least some of them are coming to PCs for games too. As TechSpot reports, the 3070 in particular appears to have become the fastest growing GPU on Steam and the 17th most popular graphics accelerator on Steam, with 1.29 percent overall share.

The RTX 3080 also commands 0.87 percent, the RTX 3060 Ti has 0.39 percent and the expensive RTX 3090 holds 0.34 percent of the market – for a total of 2.89 percent Ampere cards.

This is not bad, especially considering that the rival AMD RX 6000 series does not have a single place in the entire 95 GPU leaderboard. Apparently, more players are using the 2011 Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti (0.16 percent) than any of the latest AMD cards.

More than a quarter of Steam PC players are now using AMD CPUs instead of Intel, so this is probably a consolation.

If second-hand sales figures are the basis, I would expect the latest RTX 3060 to contribute to Nvidia’s counting next month.
