State finds some vaccines administered in Jones Beach on Feb. 15 ineffective

The New York State Department of Health claims that several vaccines administered at the Jones Beach location on February 15 were not within the required temperature range when administered and were found to be ineffective.

The state says it is contacting these people to schedule an appointment to receive another injection.

Authorities say that 81 of the nearly 1,400 vaccinated in Jones Beach on February 15 were affected by ineffective doses of the vaccine and that these people were contacted.

The state says there is no harm in receiving these ineffective injections.

“Taking a third dose does nothing but speed up your immune system back,” said Dr. Frederick Davis, of Long Island Jewish Medical Center. “So while it may have accelerated a little with that partial dose kept at a different temperature, what it is doing is exposing its system to part of this virus again.”

Authorities did not say exactly what caused the error.
