State closes vaccine mega-sites for approaching snow storm

A trio of state-owned COVID-19 vaccine mega-sites will be closed on Sunday as New Jersey prepares for its second snowstorm this week.

Governor Phil Murphy announced on social media late on Saturday that vaccine mega-meters in Burlington, Middlesex and Morris counties will be closed on Sunday.

Much of New Jersey is under a winter storm alert from the National Weather Service, as a storm is expected to bring up to 20 inches of snow into the I-95 corridor on Sunday, and smaller, but still significant, total snowfalls. in other parts of the state.

The Middlesex County website, which is located at the New Jersey Convention and Exhibition Center in Edison, will have its nominations moved to Saturday, February 13.

In Morris County, nominations for the Rockaway Townsquare mega-site will be moved to Wednesday, February 10.

And in Burlington County, appointments for the Moorestown Mall mega-site will be moved to Monday, February 8; Tuesday, February 9; and February 10.

The state’s other three mega-vaccination sites, in Atlantic County, Bergen County and Gloucester County, will remain open despite the storm.

People who need to have their appointments rescheduled will be contacted by individual health professionals, according to the governor. Anyone with doubts about mega-sites and vaccinations in general should call the state’s vaccination call center, 855-568-0545.

This is not the first time that snow has forced the state to close mega vaccine sites. All six sites were forcibly closed on Monday by the northern climate, which left more than a foot of snow on the ground in parts of New Jersey.
