Stark: Phillies makes a “nine-digit offer” to JT Realmuto

As Delayed Hot Stove continues to heat up, The Athletic’s Jayson Stark reports that Philadelphia Phillies made a five-year, nine-digit offer for receiver JT Realmuto to stay with the club.

Stark believes the offer is “slightly more than $ 100 million”, which is almost where the Phillies were when they offered Realmuto a deal at the time when baseball operations president Dave Dombrowski joined the team. Stark asked Dombrowski about the report, but he declined to comment due to the privacy that matters demand.

The latest offer follows reports that Dombrowski and Realmuto met to meet last month. “Everything went well,” Dombrowski told NBC Sports Philadelphia about the meeting. “It is clear why everyone in the Phillies organization thinks so highly of JT as a person and a player.”

Realmuto – the best catcher on the market (and baseball) – attracted the interest of several teams outside the season outside the Phillies, mainly the Blue Jays and Nationals. The Mets were also interested before signing a $ 40 million contract with James McCann for four years.
