The US Postal Service unveiled a new set of Star Wars stamps with a focus on the androids of that galaxy far, far away. The set includes 10 stamps inspired by characters featuring droids from across the franchise’s history. These androids include IG-11, R2-D2, K-2SO, DO, L3-37, BB-8, C-3PO, a gonk android, surgical android 2-1B and Chopper. Each android is placed against a background that represents a backdrop from the Star Wars universe. The choice of droids as a theme is intended to pay homage to Lucasfilm and Disney’s efforts to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning through ongoing collaboration between Star Wars: Force for Change and the nonprofit organization global pre-K-12. .
Lucasfilm is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021. Greg Breeding designed the stamps. William Gicker was the art director.
