Star Wars: High Republic launch event

At a special live broadcast event, Lucasfilm debuted a trailer for its publishing initiative, covers and concept art never seen before, and announced new details about upcoming books, comics and more.

Star Wars: The High Republic starts tomorrow, when the first books of the multimedia initiative arrive.

To celebrate the new era of Star Wars narrative, Lucasfilm opened the doors of his epic publication today with a special live broadcast celebrating the launch on January 5, The high republic. Kristin Baver of StarWars.com hosted the event, leading a discussion with Lucasfilm Publishing’s creative director, Michael Siglain, and the authors who contributed to the new stories: Charles Soule, Justina Ireland, Cavan Scott, Daniel José Older and Claudia Gray . During the hour-long conversation, the writers discussed their collaboration, plot points and the inspiration behind some new characters, and revealed just a little bit of what fans can expect as they explore this unknown corner of the galaxy far, far away.

Here is a summary of all the biggest news of the event.

1. Take a look at that new trailer! We think it speaks for itself.

two In the dark will introduce us to some new galactic pilots. Gray shared some insights about his squad of heroes, including Leox, Geode and Affie.

3. And we got our first look and information about a number of other new characters. From Bonbraks to Ty Yorrick to Ram Jamoram, The high republic it’s full of fun new creatures, aliens and characters.

4. The character’s inspiration runs through the entire range. While Gray imagined a type of Matthew McConaughey for one of his smugglers, Older used a colleague’s radio call from his day as a paramedic to help him create a character known as “Buckets of Blood.” You will want to hear him tell the story.

5. Soule’s new fiction in recent years Star Wars Insider it’s just the beginning. In addition to the series of short stories that started in issue # 199, Ireland and Scott will be writing some “Starlight Stories” for the magazine this year.

6. Scott will also add an original comic to the mix. The Temple Peak Monster will include art by Rachael Stott.

7. Ireland will be leading us Out of the shadows. In her first YA novel for the initiative, Ireland will bring the ongoing adventures of Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh, Padawan Reath Silas, aspiring inventor Avon Starros and more to a new audience.

8. The eldest is preparing for Run to the Crashpoint Tower. The second middle-class novel set at the time will be filled with top-notch entertainment.

9. In addition to Marvel and IDW comics, The high republic will include an original comic strip in the Viz Media manga format. With a history of Ireland and Shima Shinya and art by Mizuki Sakakibara, The Edge of Balance is the first in a new series.

10. StarWars.com will welcome the initiative with an entirely new bimonthly program. The panel introduced presenter Krystina Arielle, who will take fans to a deep backstage dive with creators, artists and authors of the new series Star Wars The High Republic Program.

And the journey is far from over. Siglain revealed that the announced titles are only part of the first phase of the multi-year project launch. Although little is known about what each will entail, he revealed the names of each phase:

  • Phase I: Light of the Jedi
  • Phase II: Quest of the Jedi
  • Phase III: Evidence of the Jedi
