‘Star Wars’ and ‘Archer’ voice artist Tom Kane suffers stroke

The famous voice actor Tom Kane, whose diverse work ranges from Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi and The Clone Wars to Halloween franchise, Archer and The Powerpuff Girls, had a stroke in November that left him practically unable to speak, revealed his daughter.

Posting on Tom Kane’s Facebook page, his daughter Sam explained that her father had been off the radar for two months after suffering a stroke on the left side that caused him weakness on the right side and damage to the center of speech in his brain. Although he is still “very much himself”, the stroke left him with little ability to communicate verbally, she added.

The post goes on to say that the family found him with occupational and physical therapy – and they are hopeful that he will recover those lost functions – but that they were warned by a neurologist that he may not be able to narrate again.

“My dad is still in a good mood and his extreme stubbornness helped him show improvements in speech,” she wrote. The post was received by hundreds of well-meaning comments.

A prolific voice artist, Kane has lent his voice to a variety of notable characters, including Yoda in several seasons of Star Wars the Clone Wars, as well as the 2008 film. He also played characters in The force awakens and a rogue, and remarkably expressed Admiral Ackbar in The Last Jedi.

In the animated spy series Archer he voiced Butler Woodhouse in several episodes, while playing Professor Utonium in a long children’s series Super powerful girls.
